Until a week ago, PSV Eindhoven had won it all in the Dutch league and cup, but after a draw in the Eredivisie, cup elimination to Feyenoord followed. In De Kuip the score was 1-0.
Fast start to the game: After less than two minutes both teams fired their first shot. Jimenez took Drummel under fire, and at the other end Bakayoko kicked recklessly after a good shot from Till.
The latter saw the first goal hit the post fifteen minutes later after he parried a powerful shot from Lozano with the top of his head. In an enjoyable first half, the home team controlled the course of play.
Feyenoord got what they deserved after several chances. Timber slammed from the spin, and Drummel had no story. The pale Bakayoko tried to advance again before the end of the first half, but to no avail.
After the break, PSV tried to avoid their first defeat in the cup or competition. Lange and Vertisen, among others, are still getting their chance. The former club player saw a penalty go through the nose, and Till was flagged.
A final attack was not possible and thus exit from the cup followed. Feyenoord have qualified for the quarter-finals, and of course PSV still have the competition and the Champions League.
