An uproar in Paraguayan football. Jean, goalkeeper of Cerro Porteno, was sent off with a red card before the Super Cup final against Olympia.
The 26-year-old Brazilian is hired by Cerro Porteno from Sao Paulo, who will sell him to the Paraguayan club for €1m at the end of this year. Gene showed his less attractive side to the fallen against Olympia. He walked straight from the locker room to his goal, then made a kind of choking gesture towards the fans of his arch-rival Cerro Porteno. This was picked up by the VAR, after which the former Brazil Under-20 international received a red card.

“misunderstanding”
Jean protested against the ruling, Eber Aquino, but to no avail. According to the goalkeeper, everything is based on a misunderstanding.
“As I walked towards my goal, the rival fans started throwing things at me. Like firecrackers. I answered with a nod that is completely normal in Brazil. They call it vapo’” Jan said, referring to a gesture from Brazilian funk. “I have no idea what the referee was thinking, but he gave me a red card. I think it’s a misunderstanding.”
Note: Cerro Porteno was allowed to choose another goalkeeper and start with eleven, but lost the final 3-1. According to local media, the club is considering not allowing to continue buying Jin after this incident.
