Russian President Putin may want to go further than invading Ukraine. At least that’s what US Secretary of State Anthony Blingen says. Satellite images show how Russia builds troops on the Belarusian border with Poland.

US media have reported that Russia has mobilized troops, armored vehicles, artillery and more than 50 heavy vehicles in an area of the Belarusian city of Brest, 10 kilometers from the Polish border. When asked about Putin’s plans, the Russian president replied that “it is certainly possible to go beyond Ukraine.”
Blinken immediately insisted that the invasion of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary or Romania was an invasion of a NATO member state. According to the charter of the organization, this automatically means that the United States, the United Kingdom, France and the 27 member states of the organization will be involved in the conflict. “There is a powerful barrier to such intrusion, which we call Article 5,” Blinken said. It says an attack on a NATO member state is tantamount to an attack on all NATO member states. President Biden has already made it clear that he will protect every inch of NATO territory. This is a very powerful deterrent.
