Max Verstappen’s pole report is becoming increasingly impressive. The Dutch world champion will once again be first to start in the Emilia Romagna GP. This is his seventh pole position in seven races this season, and his eighth in a row if we include the last overall award from last season. In this way he equals the record set by Ayrton Senna. Oscar Piastri came in second and Lando Norris came in third.
7 out of 7 this season, 8 poles in a row.
There is no limit to Max Verstappen in Formula 1 qualifying. The Red Bull Dutchman faced stiff competition from McLaren in qualifying for the Emilia Romagna GP, but managed to take pole position once again.
It was an exciting first quarter for Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard ended up in the middle of the group due to a mistake and had problems with his car and finished the race in last place. Lewis Hamilton, another legend, narrowly escaped with a 15th place finish.
Things didn’t look good for Hamilton for a while in the following qualifying session either. However, the Briton was able to take the lead again, which was not the case for Sergio Perez. Mexico’s Red Bull was mercilessly eliminated.
Verstappen quickly set the tone in Q3 and was able to improve that lap once again. Young Oscar Piastri came very close, but was no longer able to keep Verstappen off pole. Piastri’s teammate Lando Norris will start from third tomorrow.
If you include last season’s final Grand Prix, Verstappen’s eighth consecutive pole position. This equals the record of deceased Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna, in the track where the Brazilian lost his life.
Perez was frustrated after his early elimination:
