Robin Verheiden won a gold medal for our country at the European Under-23 Championships in Tallinn. Verheiden raced for the European title in the 1500m with a time of 3’40” 03. After silver for Rani Roseus, this is Belgium’s second medal.
Robin Verheiden organized his race well and started very quietly. He waited in the middle of the set for his chance in the final run.
200 meters from the finish, East Fleming was unloaded with astonishing acceleration. The Spaniard Marco Garcia and the Portuguese Isaac Nader were left behind.
Eight years after Peter-Jan Hannes, Belgium is once again a promising European champion in the 1500m. Yesterday, Rani Rozios set out to win the silver medal in the 100m.
Verheyden is loudly encouraged
At Villa Spurza, Karl Vanneukerek took part in a part that was loudly encouraged by Robin Verheiden in his race for gold. Watch how athlete Mariska Parewyck sympathizes with young Verheyden. “Come on, Robin!”
