Dimitri van den Berg is unbeaten at the New Zealand Darts Masters. Our countryman was beaten by Luke Littler in the quarter-finals. The overall win went to world champion Luke Humphries.
No semi-final for Dimitri van den Berg in New Zealand. In Hamilton, the 17-year-old Englishman from Antwerp lost to Luke Littler (6-4).
It was the youngster who gave the best start. After four legs he already had a 3-1 lead. Later, van den Berg delivered some spectacular footwork.
With two 11-darters and best shots of 80 and 89, he leveled the scores again at 4-4.
But the talented Littler bounced back and he was able to finish the morning with an excellent 11-darter and 97 runs.
With an average of nearly 104 (van den Berg 99.48) and an impressive check-out average of 85.7 per cent (over 57 per cent with van den Berg), the Englishman’s size is huge.
Overall win goes to Luke Humphries
But Littler didn’t win. He was defeated (6–7) by world champion Luke Humphries in the semi-finals after a strong comeback.
The latter faced Australian Damon Hedda in the final and finished it quickly. Final score: 8-2. The Englishman thus pockets 70,000 euros.
