Vincent Kompany officially began his coaching career as Bayern Munich manager this week, and his first few days have shown promise.
According to a report from Bayern observer Heiko Niederer in BILD, Kompany made an immediate impression with his unexpected appearance at the Sabineer Strasse training complex last Friday.
There, Kompany personally met several first-team players, including Eric Dier, Raphaƫl Guerreiro, Sacha Boye, Serge Gnabry and Bryan Zaragoza, who were training individually. Also worth noting was his interest in the U23s, where he not only introduced himself to the players but also had a chat with the U23s coach and gave a short speech to the team.
Niederer stressed the importance of this direct involvement: “It’s not usual for a coach to pay so much attention to both the first team and the promising team on his first day. To do that right away on your first day… that still means what.”
Company’s interaction extended to field maintenance staff. “He took a few minutes to talk to the conservationists, just to introduce himself,” Niederer added.
