Vincenzo Nibali will participate in the Five Milestones of Cycling next year, reports Gazzetta dello sport. According to the Italian sports newspaper, the almost 37-year-old Italian will also participate in the Paris-Roubaix Championship for the first time.
Nabali announced a week ago that he wanted to one day be at the start of Paris-Roubaix. “I’ve never ridden Rubiks, but next year might be the right time.” La Gazzetta dello Sport now reports that the Sicilian has an ambitious plan for 2022 of participating in the five cycling attractions: Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, Liege-Bastogon-Liege and Tour of Lombardy.
The cyclist, who will compete again for Astana next year, has won three cycling memorabilia in the past. In 2015 and 2017 he was the best in the Lombardy Tour and in 2018 he surprised friend and foe by being the first to cross the line in Milan-San Remo. Nibali has also been a Liège-Bastogne-Liège starter several times, finishing second in 2012 as an outsider, and in 2018 being part of the Tour of Flanders.
It is not yet clear if Nibali will take part in the Giro d’Italia again next year, or if he would prefer the Tour de France.
