Swiss Quantum Gruppe has submitted a € 7.5 billion bid for Italian sports car brand Lamborghini. This is what he writes in the German trade magazine Automobilwoche.
Lamborghini is one of the trademarks of the German car giant Volkswagen. Quantum will make a bid with British investor Centricus. The so-called “Letter of Intent” will be sent tomorrow / Wednesday, the trade magazine reports that the document can be viewed. There will be little enthusiasm for bidding in both Volkswagen and Audi. Lamborghini is part of Audi, the luxury brand of Volkswagen.
Quantum CEO Ria Stark Rajsek founded the brand new electric sports car, BESH Automotive, two years ago with Anton Bish. Petsch is the son of the former Volkswagen Patriarch Ferdinand Beach.
Lamborghini employees will be guaranteed a period of five years of job security. The manufacturer’s VW management from Sant’Agata Bolognese should be able to make the switch. According to Automobilwoche, Quatum and Centricus will have a strategic partnership with VW after the purchase. Lamborghini should become a “clean leadership showcase” for acquisition candidates. In Germany, Quantum will establish an innovation center for battery development and production.
Audi’s response is short and straightforward. A spokesman said, “Lamborghini is not for sale.” “There is no discussion about that.” Volkswagen played with the idea of breaking up with Lamborghini last year, but the plans were postponed in December.
Lamborghini last week announced an investment of 1.5 billion euros in the electrification of the brand. The first hybrid sports car produced from a series should come off the assembly line in 2023 and the first fully electric vehicle should follow in the second half of the decade.
