Windows 11 Preview build crashes systems with virtual machines – Computer – News

I also find Microsoft’s explanation confusing, as it doesn’t properly describe the direction we’re “virtualizing.” You can also sense this lack of clarity in the Tweakers article, which basically translates and names but doesn’t explain.

This issue is most likely to affect devices that use cross-platform virtualization tools and virtualization features, such as CloudPC, DevBox, and Azure Virtual Desktop. We are investigating to determine the exact circumstances under which this issue could arise.

Microsoft Azure DevBox (cloud workstation), Azure virtual desktop (Cloud workplace) and Windows 365 Cloud PC (also Cloud Workplace) All are solutions for a complete Windows workplace running in the cloud.

This is in contrast to an actual laptop on which I run Hyper-V, VMware, or VirtualBox, for example. Since these and the above scenarios are not explicitly mentioned, I assume this is where the problem lies.

The exception (or addition) to this might be systems with nested virtualization, but the Microsoft article doesn’t say whether this is only present in the above group or also in the laptop mentioned above.
