With this new feature in WeTransfer, you will never lose any important file again.

Popular web service WeTransfer is making a major change that will ease users’ anxiety over expired download links. This is the first major change for the Dutch service since it was acquired by an Italian internet company.

WeTransfer has a new feature Advertise Which allows you to save files for later and extend the expiration date to 30 days. “This gives you more time to preview it, download it to your mobile device, or send it to yourself so you can view the file on your computer.” This sounds like good news, but you have to do something yourself. Not all shared files remain available for download indefinitely.

WeTransfer’s announcement is about a new feature in the app called “Save for Later.” The company says this lets you save files and “open them when you need them.” This can prevent you from getting the dreaded “This link has expired” message when you’re nearing a deadline. “Losing an important file when you need it is a pain many users know all too well,” WeTransfer writes.

Only in mobile app

In the mobile app, you can save the received transfer for later via a new save icon at the top right of the screen. You can also specify how long you want to keep the file transfer.

In the WeTransfer app for iPhone and Android, you’ll see an overview of your saved transfers in the “Saved” section. The new feature doesn’t work across the website.

Acquisition by Italian company

At the end of July, it was announced that WeTransfer had been acquired by Italian internet company Bending Spoons, which had previously acquired the popular note-taking app Evernote. There could be more changes coming to WeTransfer in the near future. Bending Spoons has also made several adjustments to the business models of those companies following previous acquisitions.
