It has become clear over the past couple of weeks that things are moving in the right direction for Foot Van Aert. The Kempen native continues to make great strides in his recovery, despite his crash at Dwars Door Vlaanderen being just over a month ago.

We have seen that Van Aert is now back on his bike. First it was a women’s mountain bike, then his gravel bike, but he is currently training again on his regular bike. We also see that Van Art makes the necessary trips every day, although it stands to reason that the density has not yet arrived.
But that doesn’t stop him from presenting a big surprise. Van Art will be back on the road at the end of this month. After all, Van Aert wants to get to the start of the Tour of Norway, which starts on May 23 and consists of four stages. This will be his first participation there, but Van Aert has already won the general classification of the Danish Tour in 2018.

Still on tour
His participation isn’t completely confirmed yet, but according to HLN that’s already the plan. After that, it remains to be seen how Van Aert will handle his path to the Olympics. It seems certain that he will compete in the time and road trials in the Belgian championship. These matches will be held on June 20 and 23, respectively.

Later, there seems to be a good chance that Van Aart will head to the Tour de France. An altitude training course is usually planned, but the need to be able to compete at a certain level in preparation for the Games is great.
Moreover, the chance of Jonas Vingegaard making it to the Visma-Lease a Bike Tour seems rather slim. This means that Van Aert could be given a free role in France.
