Xiaomi has unveiled 12 series of smartphones in China. With its 6.3-inch screen, the Xiaomi 12 is more compact than its predecessor, and the Xiaomi 12 Pro has a larger 6.8-inch screen and a better camera. It would also appear 12X cheaper with an older soc.
Both Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are equipped with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 soc processor, which is manufactured using a 4nm process by Samsung. The Pro model has a 6.8-inch OLED panel with a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz and a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels, and this top model also supports fast charging up to 120W.
The Xiaomi 12 comes with a 6.3-inch screen which is slightly smaller than its predecessor, which had a 6.8-inch screen. In the presentation, Xiaomi focused a lot on the presentation of the device. It measures 69.9 mm, which is slightly less than the width of the iPhone 13, which has a screen size of 6.1 inches.
There is also a difference in the cameras. The Xiaomi 12 Pro gets a Sony IMX707 sensor for the primary camera. This is a relatively large sensor in the 1 / 1.28 ” format, with a resolution of 50 megapixels, which is similar to the 1 / 1.31″ sensor of the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. The Xiaomi 12 has a smaller 1/1.56″ IMX766 sensor. However, this sensor is still slightly larger than the 1/1.65″ sensor from the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max. Both devices have a primary camera with optical stabilization.
Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro both get the so-called CyberFocus functionality. According to Xiaomi, this technology comes from CyberDog- Bot Checker It works with advanced subject tracking and recognition. This should improve the quality of images for animated subjects.
Xiaomi is also releasing the 12X. It’s almost the same as the Xiaomi 12, but with Snapdragon 870 5G soc and without wireless charging support. Also, the CyberFocus feature is missing in this model.
The Xiaomi 12 phones will be launched for the first time in China and presumably later in the Netherlands and Belgium, but nothing has been announced yet. It’s also not clear if all models will come to the Benelux. Prices in China start at 3199 Yuan for the Xiaomi 12X and go up to 5399 Yuan for the most expensive 12 Pro version. Transferred with VAT, i.e. 537 EUR and 906 EUR respectively.
