In their 15th and final Nations League shootout game, the Yellow Tigers (FIVB-10) beat Canada (FIVB-21) 3-0. The positions set in Italian Rimini were 26-24, 25-17 and 25-17.
The Yellow Tigers got their teeth into the final game of a Nations League shot and they managed to close it off with a beauty. Our women’s national team beat Canada by 3 to 0 winning groups.
Yellow Tiger Celine van Gestel looks back with relief: “First of all, we are really happy that we won this last match and that we can finish the tournament with a victory.”
In the second set we started serving well and we can play our game
“I think everyone is exhausted now and ready to go home, but we really had fun today. I think we didn’t do well in the first set.”
“But in the second set we started to serve well and were able to play our game. I think that was the main reason for our victory.”
The referee lost 7 times, 8 times and ninth place
With eight wins, six 3-2, and seven defeats, the Belgian finished ninth.
The United States (FIVB-1), Brazil (FIVB-3), Turkey (FIVB-5) and Japan (FIVB-4) will play the fourth final next weekend. China (FIVB-2), the Dominican Republic (FIVB-6), the Netherlands (FIVB-8), and Russia (FIVB-7) also ended the lead over Belgium.
Germany (FIVB-11), Poland (FIVB-12), Italy (FIVB-9), Serbia (FIVB-13), Canada, South Korea (FIVB-14) and Thailand (FIVB-17) left them behind.
