Zdenek Stybar forms a one-man team and finally hangs his bike in the Cyclo-cross World Championship

Zdenek Stybar forms a one-man team and finally hangs his bike in the Cyclo-cross World Championship

Starting tomorrow, in Baal, Zdenek Stybar will begin his final weeks as a professional cyclist. The 38-year-old Czech will do so in his single team colours. At the Cyclo-Cross World Championships on February 4, Stybar will end his career in front of his people.

Zdenek Stybar has already been on a farewell tour on the road in China and Hong Kong this fall.

After an unfair battle with injuries, the 38-year-old Czech did not receive a contract extension from his team, Jaiko Alla..

Stybar was briefly in discussions with a Czech team about staying in the peloton for another year, but cooperation did not materialize.

Stybar plans to retire from cycling on Sunday, February 4, when he will wear the jersey number for the last time at the cyclocross world championships in Tabor (Czech Republic).

Since Stybar is no longer allowed to wear the Jayco-AlUla jersey as of January 1, he has put together a one-man team.

Tomorrow he will be seen for the first time in Baal in the black and white jersey bearing the name Stybar. The three-time cyclocross world champion will next dig mud on a Ridley cross bike.

“For Zdenek, this means returning to his roots, because the Ridley is the bike with which he achieved his greatest success,” a press release said.
